Social commentator Martins Vincent Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, has doubled down on his controversial allegations against the Nigerian police and military, insisting that he stands by his earlier remarks and is prepared to defend them in court if formally charged.

In a strongly worded statement shared with his followers, VeryDarkMan declared: “On the Nigerian police, I SAID WHAT I SAID. You will get your evidence when I am charged to court.” He went further to allege that the police are “the unknown gunmen” and accused members of the security establishment of aiding kidnappings, while also extending the allegation to the military.

The outspoken activist did not appear to retreat from the claims despite the potentially serious implications of his statements. Instead, he challenged the relevant authorities to take legal action against him, arguing that the courtroom would provide the appropriate setting for him to present what he described as evidence supporting his allegations.

“I repeat, THE POLICE ARE THE UNKNOWN GUNMEN and they aid kidnappings and the military are also the unknown gunmen,” he stated, using emphatic language to reinforce his position. The remarks come against the backdrop of persistent public concern over insecurity, kidnappings and attacks across parts of Nigeria, issues that have continued to generate intense debate over the effectiveness and accountability of the country’s security institutions.

VeryDarkMan concluded his statement with a direct challenge: “CHARGE ME TO COURT, YOU WILL GET THE EVIDENCE THERE,” while accompanying the post with the hashtags #EndInsecurity and #RatelMovement and a heart emoji. His comments are likely to fuel further public debate, particularly over the burden of proof, accountability within security agencies and the appropriate legal process for addressing serious allegations against state institutions.
